Abstract
Seed-feeder insects on range plants of Iran were collected during 2010 and 2011. Caryedon mersa (Col.: Chrysomelidae: Bruchinae) belonging to the subfamily Bruchinae of the family Chrysomelidae was identified for the first time in Iran. The species was identified and described by Johnson et al. 2004. Larvae of the species feeds on the affected seeds but no economic damages have so far been reported. the insect was collected and identified on Prangos ferulacea in Kohgiluie and Boyer Ahmad, on Prosopis koelziana in Boushehr, on Prangos sp. in Isfahan, Ghahan, and on Prangos ferulacea in Tehran, Damavand (Absard Research station). These plant Species are introduced as new hosts of the seed beetle.
