Abstract | ||
To evaluate the effect of garlic powder on performance, biochemical parameters and immunity of broilers, a trial was conducted using 240 mixed-sex Ross 308 day-old chicks in completely randomized design manner with 4 treatments, 5 replicates and 12 chicks in each replicate. Treatments were 1) control; 2) garlic powder (0.05%); 3) garlic powder (0.1%) and 4) bacitracin methylene disalicylate growth promoter (0.045%). During experiment, performance, internal organ weights, biochemical parameters and immunity evaluated at day 42. Results showed that garlic powder at 0.1% level significantly (P<0.05) improved the performance parameters like feed consumption, body weight enhancement and reduction in FCR, compared with control and growth promoter antibiotic groups. Production index was improved in treatments with 0.1% and 0.5% of garlic powder than control and AGP treatments. The blood lipid contents were decreased and antibody titers against IB and IBD were increased in 0.1% garlic level, than control. In general, inclusion level of 0.1% of garlic powder had beneficial impacts on performance, biochemical parameters, and immune titers and can be used as a suitable replacer to antibiotic growth promoters. | ||
