Abstract
The conservation status of Salvia lachnocalyx Hedge f. of Lamiaceae (mint family) was evaluated and defined based on IUCN threat categories. It was evaluated according to three categories: area of occupancy, extent of occurrence and the number of mature species in populations. This species was defined as "Critically Endangered" (CE). Field observations showed that livestock grazing of flowering shoots of this species during the flowering season and destruction of its small habitat through highway construction, as well as the assignment of lands for construction, are among the main threats to this endemic and rare species in the world.
