| Abstract | ||
| To identify the Fusarium species pathogenic on sugar beet causing root rot samples of infected roots were collected from sugar beet fields in Karaj region during growing season of l 998- 99. Infected roots were washed. surface sterilised and plated on acidified PDA. From 223 isolated Fuasrium samples, 6 species such as: F solani (l 70 isolates), F oxysorum (20 isolates), F culmorum (5 isolates), F. proliferatum (4 isolates), F. nygami (17 isolates), F. equiseti (7 isolates) were identified. A few isolates from each fusarinm species were used for pathogenicity tests on 30 days old sugar beet plants, using conidial suspension and oat meal + sand inocula. The results showed that F oxysporum, F. nygamia and F solani proved to be pathogenic on sugar beet. | ||
