چکیده
Pigeon racing is a popular sport where trained pigeons compete against each other in flying competitions. Furthermore, pigeons serve as laboratory specimens for scientific research and experiments. Additionally, many people keep pigeons as companion animals, enjoying their company and unique characteristics. The pigeon holds a significant cultural and religious significance, particularly in Islam. Like many other animals, pigeons can be affected by various pathogens, including viruses. This study focuses on three crucial viruses in pigeons: Pigeon Adenovirus, Pigeon Circovirus, and Pigeon Herpesvirus. To detect these viruses in pigeons, the researchers utilized a method called polymerase chain reaction (PCR). They collected liver samples from deceased pigeons referred to the veterinary hospital of Ferdowsi University in Mashhad, Iran. The researchers detected the DNA from the samples and prepared histopathological slides following specific protocols. This study confirmed the presence of adenovirus in 15.5% of the pigeons, circovirus in 100%, and herpesvirus in 22.5% of the studied pigeons. Additionally, histopathological examination was conducted on 43% of the samples, revealing that only one sample (3.3%) exhibited typical inclusion bodies. However, nearly all the samples showed varying degrees of pathological changes, including congestion, hemorrhage, and necrosis. The present study is one of the few works done on 3 important viruses involving pigeons, in Iran; and it is necessary to pay special attention to its results and carry out additional works. Detecting 100% of the livers of sick pigeons as infected with circovirus can also be a significant result because other manuscripts have not reported such severe contamination.

سابقه: کبوترپرانی یک ورزش محبوب است که در آن کبوتران آموزش دیده در مسابقات پرواز با یکدیگر رقابت می کنند. علاوه بر این، کبوترها به عنوان نمونه های آزمایشگاهی برای تحقیقات و آزمایش های علمی هم مطرح هستند. همچنین، بسیاری از مردم کبوترها را به عنوان حیوانات همراه نگهداری می کنند و از همراهی و ویژگی های منحصر به فرد آنها لذت می برند. کبوتر دارای اهمیت فرهنگی و مذهبی قابل توجهی به ویژه در اسلام نیز می باشد.
هدف: کبوترها نیز مانند بسیاری از حیوانات دیگر می توانند تحت تأثیر عوامل بیماری زا از جمله ویروس ها قرار گیرند. این مطالعه بر روی سه ویروس حیاتی در کبوترها متمرکز است: آدنوویروس کبوتر، سیرکوویروس کبوتر و هرپس ویروس کبوتر.
روش‌ها: برای شناسایی این ویروس‌ها در کبوتر، محققان از روشی به نام واکنش زنجیره‌ای پلیمراز (PCR) استفاده کردند. آنها نمونه کبد کبوترهای مرده مراجعه کننده به بیمارستان دامپزشکی دانشگاه فردوسی مشهد را جمع آوری کردند. محققان DNA را از نمونه‌ها شناسایی کردند و اسلایدهای هیستوپاتولوژیک را طبق پروتکل‌های خاص تهیه کردند.
یافته ها: این مطالعه وجود آدنوویروس در 5/15 درصد کبوترها، سیرکوویروس در 100 درصد و هرپس ویروس در 5/22 درصد کبوترهای مورد مطالعه را تایید کرد. علاوه بر این، بررسی هیستوپاتولوژیک بر روی 43 درصد از نمونه ها انجام شد، که نشان داد که تنها یک نمونه (3.3٪) به طور مشخص دارای گنجیدگی است. با این حال، تقریباً همه نمونه‌ها درجات مختلفی از تغییرات پاتولوژیک، از جمله پرخونی، خونریزی و نکروز را نشان دادند.
نتیجه گیری: مطالعه حاضر یکی از معدود کارهایی است که بر روی 3 ویروس مهم کبوتر در ایران انجام شده است؛ و لازم است به نتایج آن توجه ویژه ای شود و کارهای تکمیلی انجام شود. تشخیص 100% کبد کبوترهای بیمار به عنوان آلوده به سیرکوویروس نیز می تواند نتیجه قابل توجهی باشد زیرا سایر مقالات چنین آلودگی شدیدی را گزارش نکرده اند.
